American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA) Convention

Owner and president G. Wayne Ray attended this recent convention and had these comments to share:

With 24 employees, Coastal Carrier Moving & Storage is not one of the "big boys" in the national moving industry. As a matter of fact, we were the smallest company at this convention which was dominated by huge, national companies. After five stimulating days, I went home with an even stronger sense of pride in my industry's standards of performance and professionalism.

The convention showcased speakers and workshops on everything from industry deregulation to the growing problem of Rogue Movers (more details) that prey on unsuspecting families to the latest computer software for estimating jobs, designed to increase accuracy and efficiency. I was very impressed with the software demonstration, so I bought the program. I'm even more impressed now that we are actually using it for estimating.

I also enjoyed studying the latest in equipment from trucks to dollies and other inventive tools that can help a move progress faster and more smoothly.

Seminars featured the latest industry standards for the growing area of Records Management and Storage. Another workshop revealed smart ways to keep insurance costs down so that we can pass the savings on to our customers.

Although you won't necessarily see this behind-the-scenes work, you can be sure that it is the backbone of our ability to give you the best services and products our industry has to offer at a very fair and reasonable price.
